VAFREE Members Contribute $17 Million in 2007 Legislative Elections
- VAFREE members contributed $15.6 million to legislative candidates in Virginia’s 2007 election cycle. Totals for General Assembly campaigns and PAC contributions are:

VAFREE members contributed $12.1 million, or 29% of the $41.7 million raised by all incumbent legislators in the 2007 election cycle. Non-incumbent legislative candidates received $1.3 million from VAFREE contributors.
On average, more than a third (35.9%) of all campaign dollars raised by incumbent state legislators in the 2007 cycle came from VAFREE members. This compares to 3% from the trial lawyers and 1% from organized labor.
Half of all state Senators received at least 40% of their re-election campaign dollars from VAFREE members.
Two-thirds of all House members received at least 33% of their total campaign dollars from Virginia FREE members, and 17 Delegates received more than half of their total campaign dollars from VAFREE members.
VAFREE members contributed $3.5 million to major political Party and “leadership” PACs.
